Dr. Megan Boutin is a S.E. Shires and Greg Black Artist based in Pittsburgh, PA. She has
performed, presented, and adjudicated at conferences and festivals across the United States. She
is the winner of the 2019 International Women’s Brass Conference Tenor Trombone Category II
solo division, and has been a guest soloist at the Midwest Clinic. Dr. Boutin has held the position
of principal trombone with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra (TX) Temple Symphony
Orchestra (TX), Austin Civic Orchestra (TX), and the Tri-Cities Opera Company Orchestra
(NY). An active freelancer, she has performed across the country with groups including Dallas
Symphony, Dallas Opera, Buffalo Philharmonic, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin Lyric
Opera, and Boston Brass. An advocate for diversity and inclusion in music, Dr. Boutin is a
member of the International Women’s Brass Conference and serves as a mentor with the IWBC
mentorship program. Dr. Boutin is also a member of the International Trombone Association,
serving as an Advisor for the ITA Student Council.
